Bringing us back to what is most important every day.

Charts

Wondering what you can expect chart-wise within The Bible Companion App? Perhaps you are unsure of what exactly some of the charts mean. In this section, we walk through each chart, explaining what it means and why it is included.

My Reading History: OT Bar Charts 1

My Reading History displays progress bars for each book of the Bible.  This allows you to see how far you have progressed through each book as you work your way through the entire Bible.  The progress bars are color coded according to section.  For instance, Genesis through Deuteronomy appears as one color whereas Joshua begins a new section.

Pentateuch: Gen-Dt, Yellow
History: Jsh-Es, Green
Poetry: Job-Sng, Blue
Major Prophets: Isa-Dan, Orange
Minor Prophets: Hos-Mal, Red

Underneath each book and progress bar, the last chapter you read within the particular book and the date on which the last chapter was logged are provided.

My Reading History: OT Bar Charts 2

As you scroll down through My Reading History, the progress bars change in color from section to section.  For instance, here we see a portion of the historical books in green, the poetry books in blue, and the beginning of the Major Prophets in red.

The plus icon to the right opens a page that allows you to log chapters quickly for that particular book and to reset the reading history to zero for that particular book.

Pentateuch: Gen-Dt, Yellow
History: Jsh-Es, Green
Poetry: Job-Sng, Blue
Major Prophets: Isa-Dan, Orange
Minor Prophets: Hos-Mal, Red

My Reading History: NT Bar Charts

When you click on the New Testament button within My Reading History, reading progress bars will appear for the New Testament.  The progress bars are color coded into five distinct sections of the New Testament.

Matthew through Acts, Yellow
Romans through Galatians, Green
Ephesians through 2 Thessalonians, Blue
1 Timothy through Philemon, Orange
Hebrews through Revelation, Red

Entire Bible Reading: Progress by Section bar chart

The Progress by Section chart displays how far you have progressed through each section of the Bible.  This chart is designed to encourage you to read across various sections of the Bible and  provides an insightful glimpse of sections of Scripture that you may tend to neglect.

Daily Reading: Single Line Chart

The Daily Reading line chart displays your total chapters read per day for the current month.  At the beginning of the month, the chart will reset with a fresh start for the new month.

Daily Reading: OT NT Line Chart

This daily reading chart displays two lines.  The red line represents your Old Testament readings. The blue line represents readings within the New Testament. The purpose of this chart is to encourage a balance between time spent in the Old Testament and New Testament.

Weekly Reading: Bar Chart

Moving on from the daily reading charts, the chapters you have logged are also displayed on a week-to-week basis.  When you tap on of one the bars, information is provided for that specific week.  For example, here we can see that for the week 3/19-3/25, 35 chapters were logged in total.

Weekly Reading: Pie Chart

The Chapters Read Per Week pie chart shows the total chapters read per week for a particular month.  If you tap on a section of the pie, additional information is provided for that time span.  For instance, here we see that the 81 chapters read during the week of 3/26-4/01 equated to 16.67% of the total Bible reading for March.

Weekly Reading: OT NT Bar Chart

The Weekly Reading  bar chart is displayed a second time with each bar showing how much of the reading was comprised of the Old Testament and of New Testament.

The red line in the background represents the weekly reading goal that can be set within "Settings."

Monthly Reading: Bar Chart

The Chapters Read Per Month bar chart displays the total chapters read during each month of the current year.  The red line represents a monthly reading goal, which can be applied within "Settings".

Monthly Reading: OT NT Bar Chart

A month-by-month bar chart divides readings between the Old and New Testaments.  When a segment bar is tapped, specific information is provided.  For example, here we see that 45 chapters were logged in the New Testament in May.

Monthly Reading: Chapters by Section OT Pie Chart

Monthly reading pie charts are provided for your Old Testament and New Testament readings.  In this example, the chapters are displayed for each section of the Old Testament.  If a section is tapped, additional information is given.

Monthly Reading: Chapters by Section NT Pie Chart

The Chapters Read By Section pie chart displays your New Testament readings by section for the previous month. These pie charts will over time help you to recognize sections of Scripture that you repeatedly return to (consistently large slices) versus those sections that are often neglected (consistently small slices).

Entire Bible Reading: OT Pyramid Chart

Pyramid charts for your entire Bible reading are displayed by Old Testament and New Testament.  These charts allow you to view your progress by section according to the size of segment displayed within the pyramid.  Each segment grows as you approach 100% completion of the section.

Entire Bible Reading: NT Pyramid Chart

The Entire Bible Reading New Testament pyramid chart displays the chapters read per section and displays the segment size according to the percent complete.  As with most charts, click on a segment within the pyramid to display more information.

Note: Some Android phones do not properly display the additional text information when a segment is tapped.  A future upgrade should fix this problem.

Entire Bible Reading: OT Pie Chart

The Entire Reading by Section Old Testament pie chart is similar to the pyramid chart.  Segments are displayed according to the percent complete along with the current number of chapters that have been read per section.  By tapping on one of the segments, additional information is provided.  For example, 42 chapters have thus far been logged within the Isaiah through Daniel section, which comprises 24.26% of my total Old Testament reading.

Entire Bible Reading: NT Pie Chart

The Entire Bible Reading New Testament pie chart displays total progress by section through the New Testament.  By clicking on a section within the legend, the section slice is separated from the others.  Why you would need to do this, we don't know.  But it's kind of cool.  :)

Previous 90 Days: OT Pyramid Chart

Going beyond a 30-day month, Pyramid charts allow you to view your entire Bible reading by section within the Old Testament and New Testament for the previous 90 days.  The segments of the pyramid chart grow according to how much has been logged relative to other sections.  This example shows that I have spent the bulk of my reading in Joshua through Esther, logging 137 chapters over the past 90 days, while only logging 13 chapters in Hosea through Malachi.

Previous 90 Days: NT Pyramid Chart

Like its Old Testament counterpart, the New Testament 90-Day pyramid chart displays New Testament readings over the past 90 days.  Each section is equally weighted, regardless of the total number of chapters within that section. Therefore, when you have read completely through the New Testament, the segments within the pyramid chart will appear equal in width.

Monthly Reading: Chapters by Section

The Chapters Read Per Month by Section chart displays how many chapters were logged across the ten sections that cover the entire Bible.  The set of bar charts spans three months and will roll forward when a new month begins.

The purpose of this chart is to help you identify sections of the Bible that you consistently neglect.  When was the last time you were in Hosea-Malachi?

Accountability Rose Chart

The Accountability Rose Chart displays the amount of reading that your accountability partners have logged for the previous and current week.  This rose chart shows up to 25 chapters.  We capped it at 25 chapters because the goal of the accountability is reading consistency, not volume.  We have more accountability charts planned for future releases.
